August Dabney, 77, was born to Darnel Dabney and Ethel Dabney on August 01, 1940 in Boggy Bend, Oklahoma. He attended elememtary school in Boggy Bend and continued his high school education in Atoka.  He later moved to Mcalester where he attended L'Oveture High and graduated. 

August worked in the insurance industry for over 25 years at Blue Cross, Blue Sheild, and Metropoltain Life, where he retired. In 1968, he met and married Armel Watkins. To this union two children were born, Carmen Rene and Kevin Lee.

In his community he served as District Governor, built homes for Habitat for Humanity and participated in Meals on Wheels.

On August 17, 2017 August went home to be with the Lord. He will always be remembered and loved in the hearts of all that knew him.

August is survived by his son, Kevin Dabney. He also is survived by 6 grandchildren.
