Ashton James MaierGrimesAshton James Maier passed away on Saturday June 17, 2018. Visitation and Service will be held Thursday at the Dallas Center Grimes High School. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6:30 p.m. concluding with a 7 p.m. a Celebration of Life service.Ashton was born on March 23, 1998 in Des Moines, Iowa to Ben and Stephanie. He attended Dallas Center Grimes and graduated this year; he was planning to go on to DMACC and study Criminal Justice this fall.Ashton received his lifeguard certificate and was working at TRail Aquatics in Ankeny. Ashton enjoyed anything to do from water sports to football, four wheeling, dirt biking, paintball, and last but not least he LOVED fishing. He was always traveling and looking for his next destination.He loved his family and friends to the fullest and couldn't wait for the next adventure to come about.Ash was such a caring young man that took pride in anything he was doing. He lived his life, although short, to the fullest. He loved being an uncle and was very good at it. He left his niece with many, many memories to cherish.Ashton will be greatly missed by many. He loved as much as he was loved by all. We will all cherish the memories we have of him. Ashton is survived by his parents, Ben Maier of Ankeny and Stephanie (Bob) Carr of Stuart; siblings, Burgundie (Luke) Kharisma Winter (Grimes), Devin Maier (Johnston), Breanna, Charlee and Drew Maier all from Grimes; step sister, Riley Carr of Ames and Maddie Carr of Altoona; aunts, Jan (Dan) Klinginsmith, Jeana Maier, Joni (Mark) Stark, Cassie (Mark) Haller; grandmother, Gloria Reese of Johnston; as well as many cousins who loved him deeply.
