Arthur "Art" John KelpinOctober 27, 1922 - February 1, 2014Arthur "Art" John Kelpin, 91, of Payette, passed away, Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at his home in Payette. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 6th at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Ontario, OR with interment, along with his wife, Kay, to follow at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise, ID at 3 p.m. with Military Honors. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to Art's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com.Art was born on Oct. 27, 1922 in Clawson, MI to Paul and Elsie Kelpin. At the age of five, the family left Michigan and moved to California for a short time and then on to Payette, ID where he resided for the remainder of his life. He graduated from Payette High School in 1941 and served in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific from 1943-1946. On March 15, 1947, he married Kathleen "Kay" Woerman and together they had three children, Don (Carol) Kelpin of Sioux Falls, SD, Linda (Gary) Meeks of Ontario, OR, and Jack (Renee) Kelpin of Caldwell, ID. He is also survived by three sisters, Marion Cochran, Lucille Bischoff, and Erma Ledington all of Payette; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a special friend, Marie Fisher. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kay; and brother, Russell.A special thank you to Horizon Hospice and their special angel, Erin Messick RN, also Art's granddaughter.
