Van Goethem, ArnoldArnold J. (Arnie) Van Goethem, 79, passed away at home on Friday, February 17, 2017. Arnie was born on August 19, 1937 in Sugarbush to the late Archie and Myrtle (Vanden Avond) Van Goethem. On July 28, 1956 he married Joyce Potts at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Eaton. Arnie and Joyce owned and operated East Krok Cheese from 1960 to 1984. After the sale of East Krok Cheese, Arnie worked for Krohn's Dairy from 1984 until his retirement in 2006. He continued to do part-time milk hauling and school bus driving until 2015. Arnie was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th degree and also currently served on the board for the Town of West Kewaunee as a supervisor for 28 years, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was also a former Lions Club member for which he had the reputation of selling the most roses, over 300 dozen. Arnie had also recently achieved the Lifetime Membership Award of the Eastern Wisconsin Cheesemakers and Buttermakers Association.1. Arnie is lovingly survived by his seven daughters and three sons: Debbie (Bruce) Cochart, Cheri (Tom) Laing, Patty (Mike) Ambrosius, Kathy (Craig) Long, Tammy (Wayne) Selner, Vicki (Perri) Boettcher, Lisa (Brian) Lindsley, Michael (Brenda) Van Goethem, Mark (Brenda) Van Goethem, Matthew (Debra) Van Goethem and also his son from England, Richard Whittaker.He is also survived by 25 grandchildren: Wade Cochart, Tara (Brian) Walder, Colin (Abby) Cochart, Chad (Shelly) Laing, Jamie (Alan) Arkens, Carrie Laing (Aaron Shevy), Rob Ambrosius, Jesse (Amanda) Thompson, Ryan, Chance, & Connor Long, Adam, Chelsea, Georgie & Jason Selner, Isabella Boettcher, Katelyn Oberle, Courtney & Wyatt Van Goethem, Nathan, Tyler, & Owen Van Goethem and Mitchell, Mason & Madyson Van Goethem. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters and brothers: Carol LeLou, Betty (Howard) Wagner, Elaine Leiterman, Darrold (Pat) Van Goethem, Wilbert (Linda) Van Goethem, Ray (Jeanette) Van Goethem, and Diane (Vince) Delain, Carol Van Goethem (Dale), and the following brothers and sisters-in-law: James (Patsy) Potts, John (Louise) Potts, Jeff (Ann) Potts, Bette Potts, and numerous nieces and nephews.Arnie was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law Lawrence and Martha Potts, brothers Robert and Harold Van Goethem, sisters-in-law Janice Washington, Judy Murphy, and Karen Van Goethem and brothers-in-law Robert Murphy, Marlin Zimmer, Marcien LeLou, Jerry Potts, and Don Leiterman.Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 20 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. A parish wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. by Christal Wavrunek. Visitation continues at the funeral home on Tuesday until 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph/St. John Church, Pilsen at 11:00 a.m. by Fr. Dennis Drury.
