Archie Nathan Beals Jr., 88Archie Nathan Beals Jr., 88, of Decatur passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 in Hickory Point Christian Village. Archie was born on June 21, 1928 in Decatur, IL the son of Archie Nathan and Fern W. (Buffenmeyer) Beal Sr.. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of West Decatur Church of God, Stephen Decatur Lodge #979 A.F. & A.M., and Ansar Shrine. He was retired from A.E. Staley Manufacturing. He married Margery Williams on December 18, 1947. Archie and Margie traveled extensively and wintered in Arkansas for years. His greatest joy was his family and friends. Surviving are his wife; nieces and nephews, Shirley Knox (David) of Houston, TX; Joe Stephens (Gloria) of Roanoke, VA; Kay McBride of Surprise, AZ; Mary Lou King (Mark) of Decatur; Jerry Stephens (Jody) of Decatur; John Mitchell (Carolyn) of Freeport; Jane Clark (Jeff) of Waterloo, IA; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Shirley Stephens, Lila Mitchell, and infant Retha. The family would like to thank the Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and staff at Hickory Point Christian Village and Primrose Assisted Living for their care of Archie. Funeral service to celebrate Archie's life will be at 11 AM Friday, April 21, 2017 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Baldwin officiating. Visitation will be start at 10 AM Friday in the funeral Home There will be a Masonic Service at 10:45 AM Friday open to the public. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
