Our angel, Anthony Steven ("Steve") Mendivil-Queenan, flew to Heaven on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the age of 34. He was born on August 6, 1980 in Yuma, AZ. Diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at age 5, Steve fought valiantly for 29 years against this terminal illness and overcame numerous hospitalizations.Steve had many loves including his fluffy buddy-Leo, music, sports, electronics, video games and building radio-controlled cars with his Dad, Big Tony. Steve was an inspiration to everyone he met, never thinking of himself but always of others. Even in the deepest, darkest hours, Steve's humor brought us back to reality. His favorite places were the Magic Kingdom, the peace of the beach, his Zen garden on the back patio, and a margarita in our swimming pool.Steve is survived by his mother, Rhonda Queenan, his father, Anthony Steven Mendivil, and his "Pops," Joe Queenan. He is further survived by his grandmother, Phyllis Oran, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. They include Joe and Marjorie (Queenan) Volk; John and Anita (Beverly) Jung; Becky, Ricky, Rusty (Connie), Ronny and Robert Oran; and Lou and Rosalind (Oran) Mikkelsen. The pallbearers will be Billy Beverly, Bobby Beverly, Anthony Kniss, Travis Kniss, Rusty Oran, Lou Mikkelsen, James Casteneda and Jason Mendivil. The honorary pallbearer is Cindy Orta-Garcia.Our family would like to particularly thank Dr. Abdulkadir Hourani who cared expertly and passionately for Steve.A viewing will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014, at Johnson Mortuary, between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Christian funeral services will be held at First Christian Church on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 2:30 p.m.
