Anthony John Calabrese, age 48 of Tawas City, former 25-year resident of Petoskey and Traverse City, died on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 in Detroit. He was born on March 11, 1965 in Tawas City. Anthony graduated from Tawas Area High School, Class of 1983. He cared for the handicapped in residential facilities for 10 years and painted professionally for 10 years. Anthony was very talented and successful in many hobbies that he enjoyed such as softball, bowling, fishing, hunting and drawing. He is survived by his children, Jarrod Anthony, 22 years old, and Riley Lendall, 18 years old; parents, Charlie and Diane Ziehl of Tawas City; his brothers, Mark and his wife Faith Calabrese of Carmel, Ind. and Mike Ziehl of Leander, Texas; grandmother, Margaret Ziehl; nephews, Enzo and Aiden Calabrese; and many cousins and friends. Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Calabrese; and his grandparents, Dorothy and Edward Long, Lucy and John Calabrese and Arthur Ziehl. Visitation was held on Monday, Jan. 13 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Memorial contribution may be made to the Children's College Fund C/O Diane Ziehl.
