KINSTON - Anne Straughan Hodge, 77, of Kinston, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church in Kinston. She was born on Aug. 8, 1934, in Siler City, N.C., to the late Elijah James and Josephine McVey Straughan. Mrs. Hodge was retired from Lenoir County schools and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by: her husband, Fred Simmons Hodge of the home; her children, LouAnne Hodge, Fred Simmons Hodge and wife, Lisa, of Greenville, and Julia Hodge Cowlbeck and her husband, Tucker, of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Jessica Stuart Hager, Andrew Grayson Hager and Johnathan Logan Hodge, all of Greenville, and Anne Straughan Cowlbeck of Raleigh; and her sister Rebecca Straughan McFarland of Greensboro. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends following the funeral service and other times at the home of LouAnne Hodge at 2804-A Mulberry Lane in Greenville.
