Annamarie BlumensteelAGE: 79 • BrickAnnamarie Blumensteel, of Brick, passed away on July 12 at the age of 79. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, "Mimi," aunt, cousin, and friend. She was born on January 28, 1938 in Union City to the late Anna and William Mayer. She graduated from Holy Family High School in 1955.She and her husband James Blumensteel were married nearly 53 years before his passing in 2016. They raised six children in Brick, NJ where they were active in their Visitation Church community. She devoted many hours helping the poor and needy through her dedicated service with the St. Vincent DePaul Society and helping out at CCD. Her hobbies included crafting, cooking, and baking, visiting Smithville Inn and Delicious Orchards and spending quality time with her family. She especially loved family gatherings for parties and holidays. She also enjoyed car rides along the Jersey Shore and listening to Celtic Thunder. Annamarie was very proud of her German heritage and cooking German food. In her later years, she found joy in playing Uno, sitting on her back deck with her coffee, and completing word search puzzles while feeding the squirrels.Annamarie was predeceased by her husband James in 2016, her parents Anna and William Mayer, her brothers Michael and John, her sister Mary Swift and her husband Mike. She is survived by her children James Blumensteel, Jr. and his wife Lisa, Mary Mulvaney and her husband Michael, Donna Dewon, Timothy Blumensteel and his wife Dawn, Thomas Blumensteel and his wife Michelle, William Blumensteel, 16 grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as "Mimi" and a great grandchild on the way. Annamarie is also survived by her brother William Mayer and his wife Lori, her sister-in-law Bernadette Mayer, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her husband's cousin Ardath Grotto and her husband Richard in South Carolina. The family would like to extend its sincere thanks to the compassionate and friendly staff who cared for her at Holiday Care Center in Toms River, NJ.Viewing hours will be held on Monday July 17, 2017 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home 885 Mantoloking Road Brick, NJ 08723. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, 11 am at the Church of the Visitation, Brick. Entombment will be at Whiting Memorial Park, Whiting, NJ
