Mrs. Anna Mary Kostick, 92, of Punxsutawney passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at Mulberry Square Eldercare in Punxsutawney. Mrs. Kostick was born on Jan. 14, 1924 in DuBois, a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Anna Mary (Lubic) Misiewicz. She married the late John Paul Kostick on Aug. 5, 1950. Mr. Kostick was a U.S.
Army veteran and served during World War II; he preceded her in death on April 19, 2011. Anna was a homemaker who also busied herself in numerous activities outside of the home. She was involved in many community clubs and activities - Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Altar Rosary Society, Punxsy Polka Club - and was a regular with the Senior Citizens Center, spending time and fellowship with all of her friends. Despite her active schedule, she found time to partake in some of her favorite pastimes, such as playing Bingo, cooking, baking, dancing, canning jams and jellies and working word finds and puzzles, all of which she enjoyed very much. Anna was full of life and vigor. She was a very kind, understanding and compassionate woman who selflessly gave of her time and her love to everyone. She dearly loved her family and especially cherished her four grandchildren, with whom she loved to play card games and visit. Mrs. Kostick is survived by her three daughters, Rose Pinkerton and husband Dr. Richard Pinkerton of Johnstown, Mary Sokol and husband Paul of Pittsburgh and Monica Monoskey and husband Larry of Rossiter. She is also survived by a brother, Ed Misiewicz and wife Josephine of DuBois, and her sister, Helen Busch of Rochester Hills, Michigan. Her four grandchildren are Shara and Shannon Monoskey and Emily and John Pinkerton.In addition to her husband John and her parents, Anna was preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph, Alex, Stanley, Walter and infant Frank Misiewicz. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Murone and infant Hattie.Family and friends will be received at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. of Punxsutawney on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, from 3 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at Saints Cosmas and Damian, officiated by Monsignor Joseph Riccardo.
