Hodge, Anna Marie,Anna Marie Hodge, nee; Bennett, beloved mother, friend, and teacher, passed away in the early hours of Monday, December 5, 2016, at Norton Hosparus, aged 90.Anna Marie was a native of Louisville, born on September 23, 1926 to the late William Earl and Geneva Bennett. Her life was devoted to sharing the joys of music, a calling fostered from childhood by weekly trips with her father to buy song sheet-music, with which she gave piano serenades to the family.After graduating from Presentation Academy, Anna Marie studied music at the University of Louisville, where she earned her Bachelor's, and later Master's Degrees in Music. Anna Marie taught music for over 30 years in Louisville, teaching children in grades K-8 at Holy Trinity Parish School, Sacred Heart Model School, and performing piano accompaniment for musical productions at Ursuline School of Music. Anna Marie also was a dedicated contributor to Louisville's musical and religious communities, participating in the activities of the MacDowell Music Club, and singing with the choir at St. Brigid's Catholic Church.Anna Marie is preceded in death by her brother, Bill Bennett, her sister Eva Bennett-Brown, her son, William J. Hodge, and daughter, Joanne Hodge. She is survived by her spouse of 65 years, Joseph I. Hodge, 3 daughters, Genevieve Noble (Daryl), Catherine Young (Rickey), and Marguerite Hodge, 6 grandchildren, Joseph Aaron Hodge, Nicholas Hodge, Camille and Sean Noble, Samuel and Amelia Day, and a great-grandchild, Soreya Day.Visitation is Friday, December 9, from 2pm to 8pm, at Bosse Funeral Home, 1355 Ellison Avenue, Louisville, KY 40204. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Brigid Catholic Church, 1520 Hepburn Avenue, Louisville, KY on Saturday, December 10, at 11am, to be followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. The family encourages that memorial gifts be given to Hosparus of Louisville.
