Anita L. CookCHILLICOTHE - Anita L. Cook, 86, of Chillicothe passed away at her home on Saturday, October 29, 2016.Anita was born on July 1, 1930, in Cisco, IL, the daughter of Mabel Hawkins and Robert Mills. She married Kenneth L. Cook on November 19, 194,8 near Weldon, IL. Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Kenneth Cook; and one sister, Carol Padgett of Champaign, IL.She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and Gene Mills.Anita graduated with honors from Nixon Township High School in Weldon, IL. She worked in the banking industry for many years, working at Jefferson Bank in Peoria and Truitt Mathews Bank in Chillicothe, and retiring as the Vice President, Loan Officer, at First National Bank in Chillicothe.She loved traveling, visiting much of the United States, Caribbean Islands, Western Europe and Rio de Janeiro. Anita's hobbies included photographing the sunrises on the Illinois River, collecting light houses and scenes from train travel across the country. She really liked seeing the changing of the seasons and enjoyed the winters in Chillicothe.A private graveside service will be held at the Chillicothe City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VFW Auxiliary Post 4999, VFW Post 4999 or AMVETS Post 77, all located at 1729 N. Santa Fe Ave., Chillicothe, IL; or the American Legion Post 9 Auxiliary at 1043 N. Second St., Chillicothe, IL.
