Angelo E. GaraffaAGE: 89 • FreeholdAngelo E. Garaffa, 89, of Freehold, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, October 24, 2016 at his home. Angelo was born on January 5, 1927 in Perth Amboy, where he also grew up. On November 26, 1955, he married the love of his life, Florence M. (Straniero) Garaffa. Following their marriage, Angelo and Florence moved to Hazlet to raise their family. In 2013, they settled in Freehold. Before retiring, Angelo worked as a self-employed building contractor. He was also a proud U.S.
Army veteran, having served during
World War II. He was predeceased by his son, Richard Garaffa, his parents, Samuel and Eleanor (Matteucci) Garaffa, and his siblings, Rosemarie Mandy, John Garaffa, Faust Garaffa, and Bill Garaffa. Angelo is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Florence M. Garaffa, his loving children, Angela Dorsi and her husband, Richard, of Hazlet, Denise Zolnowski and her husband, Bruce, of Freehold, his dear siblings, Gail Dougherty, Alma Ballschneider, Colette DeFillippo, Arlene Bellotti and her husband, Chuck, Jayne Blamer-Sims, Joseph Garaffa, Fred Garaffa and his wife, Sandy, along with his cherished grandchildren, Michael Zolnowski, Anthony Zolnowski, Gabriella Dorsi, and Gianna Dorsi.
