HEYWARD, III, Andrew Andrew Hasell Heyward, III (Andy), 81, peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by his family on December 8th, 2016 after a lengthy illness. The son of Andrew Hasell Heyward Jr. and Mildred Goodrum Heyward was born on December 20, 1934 in New York, New York. The family returned to Macon, GA, where he finished his secondary education at Lanier Boys High School then went on to complete his education at the University of Georgia, where he received his undergraduate degree. While attending, he was a member of Kappa Alpha and was inducted into the Gridiron Secret Society. After serving in the U.S. army for 2 and a half years, he then went on to meet the love of his life, Carol Inman Heyward of Orlando, FL at Wesleyan College. Later Andy was a founding member of the Board of Advisors for the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences at UGA; he was emeritus the last two years. He was emeritus Trustee of Wesleyan College after serving on the board for many years. He served as a member of the Kappa Alpha Educational Foundation. Andy had a successful career with NorthWestern Mutual Life insurance company for 48 years. Andy was a man of many interests and achievements, if he was not cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, he was taking on his civic duties through the City of Sandy Springs. Carol and Andy enjoyed traveling abroad to places, such as Peru, Croatia, New Zealand, and many more. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Carol Inman Heyward; son, Andrew Hasell Heyward IV; daughter and son-in-law, Laura Ellen Heyward McLochlin and James T. McLochlin; grandchildren, Caroline Heyward McLochlin, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Inman McLochlin, and Michael James McLochlin; sister, Bunny Heyward Clarke; and nieces, Katherine Clarke Buckner and Caroline Clarke Boggs and family. Visitation will be on Monday, December 12th from 6 until 8 pm and funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 13th at 11 am at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, NE, Sandy Springs, GA with The Reverend Fred Goodwin of The Church of the Messiah, of Canton, GA officiating. Burial will be on Wednesday, December 14th at 1 pm at Riverside Cemetery in Macon, GA with military honors.
