Andrew Howard Silverman Jr was born April 1, 1953, to the loving parents of Hattie B. and Andrew H Silverman, Sr. (both preceded him in death). Andrew, who was lovingly called "Butch" was the youngest of 6 children. An older brother, James Eugene, and 3 sisters, Betty Jean, Juanita, and Leatha Mae all preceded him in death.
Andrew was baptized at the age of 12 at the Lawndale Interracial Missionary Baptist church in Chicago. He attended Herzl Elementary School and Hess Upper-Grade Center. Andrew attended and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1970, where he was a member of the football team and a member of the R.O.T.C. After high school, Andrew attended Wilbur Wright Jr. College receiving an A.A. degree in accounting. He then attended the University of Illinois at Chicago. Andrew served in the United States Army where he was a paratrooper. Later in life, he became an active member of the Masonic Lodge.
Andrew worked as an accountant at Lakeside Veteran's Hospital in Chicago and later at Hines Veterans' Hospital in Maywood, Ill, where he retired from. Andrew married Beverly Brown in 1972 and 2 children were born to this union.
