Allon Foster Carter was born on July 21, 1925 in Hutchinson, Minnesota and made his way to California with his father and sister by the time he was in grade school. The Carters eventually settled in Oroville, California where Allon graduated from high school. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in Architecture before enlisting in the Marine Corps. He served on the island of Tinian during World War II. Allon met his wife, Nellie, at his father's photography studio when she came in to pick up some family portraits. They settled in the Sacramento area where they raised their family. They had been married for 57 years when Nellie passed away in 2004. Allon applied the knowledge and skills gained in the Marine Corps to his 37 year career in Civil Service, most of which was at McClellan Air Force Base. Having grown up in his father's photography studios, Allon was always an avid photographer, himself. He enjoyed playing the harmonica and working on his '53-56 Ford F-100 trucks. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fair Oaks, and was also a member of Free and Accepted Masons of California, Oroville Lodge. Allon moved to Fresno, California for the final 2 1/2 years of his life. He is survived by his brother Earl Yates and his sister Adrienne Hoke; his children Gail Carter, Mark Carter and Andrea Majerle; his grandchildren: Sean Stevens, Sarah Michal, Olivia Carter, Savannah Majerle and Caden Majerle and his great grandchildren: Sydney Stevens and Jackson Stevens.
