AVILLA — Alice Lavon (Griffin) Whonsetler, 84, of Avilla died on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, in DeKalb Health ER. She was born on Sept. 16, 1930, in Garrett to the late John and Floy (Homes) Griffin. She work for Hubbard Spool and the former McCray Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed needle point, working her crossword puzzles and being a homemaker. She is survived by her children, James Truelove of Kendallville, David Truelove of Butler, Rick and Sheryl Truelove of Waterloo, Randy Truelove of Butler, Paula and Danny Livergood of Walterloo, and Steve Truelove of Butler. Also surviving are two sisters, Pauline and Patricia; a brother, Harold; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wayne Truelove; second husband, Ken Dan Whonsetler; a grandson, Lary Morrow; brother Joe Sr., and a sister, Ruth. Funeral service is at 11 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2015, at Brazzell Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N. Main St., Avilla, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, August 9, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial at Hooper-King Cemetery near Avilla. Memorials are to the family.
