Alice L. Williams, 85Alice L. Williams of Rohnert Park, CA passed away peacefully on September 24, 2016 at the age of 85 surrounded by her family. Alice was born on September 14, 1931 in Connersville, IN to Vera and Clifford Ayers. She married James L. Williams Jr on September 20, 1952. After her husband's military service in the Air Force ended in 1955, they settled in Lafayette, IN where they raised their three children and became proud Boilermakers. Alice moved to the Oak View community in Rohnert Park after the death of her husband in 2006 to be closer to one of her three children, but she always considered herself a girl from the Midwest. At the age of 42, Alice started her nursing career after returning to college and earning her Associate degree and her RN certification. Most of her 21- year career was spent at the Purdue University hospital where she served as the head nurse of the inpatient floor and also as a nurse in the outpatient clinic of the hospital. Prior to the start of her nursing career, she was a homemaker for her family. She volunteered her time to her children's Girl Scout and Cub Scout troops and their school activities. She was a member of the church choir and a Sunday school teacher at Evangelical Covenant Church. Prior to the move to California, Alice and her husband spent many happy days at their lake house on Lake Shafer with family and friends. From her days as a girl in Connersville and throughout her life, she loved to read, sing, listen to music, and dance. Her eldest daughter, Jama Fields, preceded her in death. Alice is survived by her son, J. David Williams (Elaine) of San Diego, daughter, Alison W. Doolin (Tim) of Rohnert Park, and son-in-law, Jim Fields of Rochester Hills, MI.. She has 6 grandchildren: Alison Smith, Jordan, and Jacob Fields; Brendan and Kathleen Doolin; and Alison G. Williams. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Marlie and Stella Smith.
