McCLUSKEY, Alice L.Alice L. McCluskey, known as Gaga to her grandchildren, peacefully passed away on December 13, 2016. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 6, 2017 at St. Louis the King of France Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Mass will be followed by a luncheon celebration of her life at Wozniak Hall at the church from 12:00-2:00.Alice was born on May 28, 1922 in Dayton, Ohio, to William and Anna Snyder. She had 4 siblings who predeceased her. After graduating from St. Samaratin's Nursing School and becoming a Registered Nurse, Alice joined the U.S Naval Nurses Corps and faithfully served her country during World War II. She was stationed at Shoemaker Naval Hospital in California, where she met the absolute love of her life Lewis Ray McCluskey. Ray was a Navy Seabee who had been sent there to recover from malaria. They married in 1945 and were together until his death in 2000. Their marriage produced six children who were the center of their lives.Alice was preceded in death by her son Paul S. McCluskey. She is survived by her children Bonnie Carothers, Patrick McCluskey and his wife Ellen, Margaret Boose and her husband Jim, Mary Alice and her husband Michael Parmet, and Michael McCluskey and his wife Carmen. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Katie Carothers; Phillip, Morgan and Kelly Parmet; Molly and Ryan McCluskey; Brian McCluskey and Raphael Colorado and Natalia Anderson. Alice had 2 great-grandchildren, Lucas Colorado and Hazel Anderson, and was expecting 4 more in 2017.Alice loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. She immersed herself in her family life-making St. Louis school uniforms, being a Cub Scout Den Mother, participating in all school activities, sewing, crafting, kids' sports and cheerleading activities and massive carpooling and making sure everyone was at the supper table. She was a devoted wife and mother and a friend to her bridge club for more than 60 years.Alice loved beauty: jewelry, sunsets, flowers, art, bright colors, rhinestones and glitter, music, Christmas decorations and yard art. Her favorite things were whatever art project she was working on, her morning coffee, her evening martini, Siamese cats and her beloved Chihuahuas.A special thanks to her niece, Alice Bebout, who was her caregiver for the past 5 years. She will be sorely missed but has left behind a legacy of love that will withstand grief and the test of time. Rest in the peace of God.
