Alice Irene Weddell SiscoSan AngeloAlice Irene Weddell Sisco of Water Valley died Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Sterling County Nursing Home at the age of 89. The second daughter of Water Valley ranchers Irene and George J. Weddell, Alice was born on May 31, 1927 in San Angelo, Texas. She attended Water Valley schools until her senior year in high school when she moved to San Angelo to live with her grandmother, Sadie Jones Weddell, and attend San Angelo High School. She graduated in 1944 and enrolled in Texas Tech College for that fall semester. In January 1945 Alice married Lt. George B. Sisco of Nacogdoches who was stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base as a flight instructor. Alice and George eventually moved to the Water Valley ranch in 1949 where they partnered with George Weddell raising cattle and sheep. Alice was a fun person, a loyal friend, and a devoted wife and mother who loved being a housewife. She loved the land and was very proud of her family and West Texas Heritage. Alice and George enjoyed fishing, playing bridge, dancing, and spending time in Ruidoso. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Water Valley for many years, enjoying her role as Scholarship Chairman for the church. She and George became members of the First Presbyterian Church of San Angelo when they moved to Rio Concho West in 2005 due to health reasons. Alice was an active member of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Women's Auxiliary, where she served as First Vice-President, made "wooly worms", chaperoned Miss Wool Contestants, and served as Chair of the Twin Mountain Unit. She was also a member of the Pocahontas Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Water Valley Bridge Club. Alice was an avid bridge player, always up for a good game. She and George were members of two dance clubs in San Angelo. Alice is survived by her children, Helen Sisco Glass and husband Lynn of Big Spring, and Barney Sisco and wife Charlotte of Water Valley; grandchildren Trey Sisco and wife Jennifer of Water Valley, Ty Sisco and wife Lindsey of San Angelo, Elizabeth Glass Staggs and husband Shelby of Lubbock, Wesley Glass and wife Ashley of Sterling City, and Jamie Glass Walker and husband Baylor of Big Spring. Alice and George were also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, and her sister Sadie Puckitt. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at Harper Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, in Harper Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bill Proctor and Dr. Richard White officiating. The graveside service will be private.
