Obituary

A beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Alexis Lydia Smith left this world unexpectedly, at 27, on Nov. 1, 2019. Born in Philadelphia, PA on Jan. 23, 1991 to Jonathan and Monica Smith, Alexis grew up in North East ,Philadelphia where she attended William Mckinley grade school and Abraham Lincoln High School.

 Alexis was a lover of the arts and fashion and enjoyed dancing and listening to music. She was funny, outgoing and vivacious, but she was also introverted and introspective. Appropriately self-nicknamed “Panther,” a symbol of power, beauty and grace, she was fiercely loyal to her friends and family. We will always remember her infectious smile, beautiful brown eyes and caring personality. Her presence in our lives will be sorely missed.

When you think of Alexis, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.

Alexis was preceded in death by her grandparents Ron and Sue Torres. She leaves behind her parents, brother Andrew; sister Ashley and Ashley’s husband, James, and their daughter, Eva; grandparents, James and Evalyn Buckley and Jim Sanchez; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9th at Burns Funeral Home, located at 9708 Frankford Ave. The ceremony is followed by a dinner at the North East Community Church from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
