Albert "AJ" Fritzler, 90, of Sterling passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 in Sterling. A celebration gathering will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17 from 1 pm to 3 pm in the Reception Room at Tennant Funeral Home. Albert was born on November 29, 1926 in Sterling to Edward and Ann Elizabeth (Ruppel) Fritzler. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1944. He was a farmer, rancher, and cattle/hog feeder until his retirement in the 1980's. He married Bessie B. "Peachie" Blankenbeckler on August 27, 1950 in Sterling. He was a lifetime member of the Sterling Elks Lodge and numerous associations involved with cattle and farming. As a high school student he was active in Logan County 4-H. Albert began his love of cars when he and his brother created a stock car racetrack in 1956 which continued his love of restoring antique Model T Ford cars in the winter months and into his retirement. At the age of 18 he purchased his first carload of Shorthorn feeder calves at the National Western Stock Show in 1945. He traveled in boxcars with family and friends to show his prized calves in Chicago and other states. His favorite prize steers were Shorty, Snowball, Jiggs, and Pepper. Albert is survived by his wife Peachie Fritzler; son William Fritzler; daughter Lorie Betts and husband Les of Dorrance, KS; granddaughter Autumn Omwenga and husband Justin and great-granddaughter Amea of Hays, KS; step-granddaughter Krystle Greer and husband Blake and great-grandson Aiden of Centennial, CO; step-grandson Jake Betts and great-grandson Noah of Dorrance, KS; brother Leon Fritzler and wife Beverly of Sterling; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters: Mary Lebsack, Katherine Brunkhardt, Irene Eisenach, Lydia Meisner, Frieda Knaub; three brothers: Theodore Fritzler, Robert Fritzler, and Edward Fritzler.
