This obituary is administered by:
Kaderabek, Alan L.Alan L. Kaderabek, age 66, of Manitowoc, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Holy Family Memorial Hospital.Alan was born on June 1, 1947, in Manitowoc, son of the late Alois and Marie (Schmitz) Kaderabek.Alan graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965. After graduation he worked at the Aluminum Specialty Co. in the tool crib for a few years. He then went on to pursue his dream of becoming a carpenter, working for Groelle Builders, Manitowoc Homes and Hamann Construction. In 2001, Al retired from A.C.E. Building Service, Inc., after more than 20 years of service, where he was known to his co-workers and friends as "Lil" Al. He truly loved his work and the people he worked with.In 1974, Al received the gift of life in the form of a donated kidney from his brother, Jerry, after being diagnosed with kidney disease in 1971. He made the most of that wonderful gift and our family is forever grateful to Jerry for giving Al those extra years. There is no greater gift than to give life to your brother. In the last few years Al struggled with constant pain, yet rarely complained and never stopped doing the things he loved.... gardening, caring for his grandchildren, canning, cooking, riding his Kubota, cutting grass, making wood, listening to Johnny Cash, spending time with his many friends and still occasionally finding the time and energy for a 'side' job. He also enjoyed the annual 4th of July weekend 'up North' at Little Sturgeon with dear friends.Al was a kind and generous person, hardworking and always helping anyone and everyone who needed his service, never turning anyone down. Al loved the earth and nature, trees and birds, gardening and monitoring the weather. Most of all, Al loved his wife, his four children and their spouses, his family and many friends. But his greatest joy in life was his eight grandchildren.Al married Doris Brandl on September 26, 1970 and they just celebrated 43 wonderful years together. He was the best husband anyone could ever hope for and was an extraordinary role model for his children. Anyone who ever met him, loved him.Alan is survived by his loving wife: Doris; his two daughters: Jeanine (Wayne) Danke and Janel (Craig) Satori; his two sons: Jake (Stefanie) Kaderabek and Jon (Rachel) Kaderabek; eight grandchildren who he loved with all his heart: Masen Danke, Jack, Kenny and Brady Satori, Makenna and Mitchell Kaderabek, and Abigail and Lucas Kaderabek.Alan is further survived by one brother: Jerry Kaderabek; two sisters: Betty (Michael) Walsgrove and Ann Marie Pro; four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Carol (David) Lemberger, Linda (Dean) Wallander, Gary (Lois) Brandl, Corrine Schneider, Sharon (Bob) Drenski and Berry Erikson. Also nieces, nephews and many friends.Alan is preceded in death by his parents: Alois and Marie (Schmitz) Kaderabek; his sister: Darlene Erikson; his brother: Dan Kaderabek; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Kenneth and Lorraine Brandl.Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2013 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton.
