Alan G. AltmannsbergerSebastianAlan G. Altmannsberger, 69, passed away at his home in Sebastian, FL. on May 30, 2017. Alan was born on September 28, 1947 in Middletown, CT. He was the son of the late Robert and Mildred (Nettleton) Altmannsberger. Alan grew up in Killingworth, CT. He attended area schools and graduated from Morgan High School, Class of 1965. Alan was a veteran of the
Vietnam War, having served with the
U.S. Air Force. Alan raised his family in Meriden, CT. with former wife, Ivanette (Barnes) Altmannsberger. Alan was employed by Canberra Industries. He spent many years on the Ed Walsh ball field coaching his two sons' little league team. After 20 years at Canberra, Alan was a commercial lobsterman out of Westbrook, CT. Alan was a member of the Meriden Police Auxiliary. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he enjoyed spending time in Maine and Florida. He was an avid Yankees and Cowboys fan. Alan resided in Haddam, CT. with former wife, Paula Kelleher for several years before moving to Sebastian, FL.Alan is survived by his two children, his son Craig Altmannsberger and his partner Linda Murphy and his daughter Jennifer O'Malley and her husband Tom. Five grandchildren of whom he adored, Casey and Colton Altmannsberger, Thomas, Kevin and MollyAnn O'Malley. Alan leaves behind four siblings, Jeanette Murphy, Patricia Roelants and her husband Rod, Yvonne Schwab and Harold Altmannsberger. Three stepsons, Patrick, Joseph and Brian Kelleher, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Sophie. Alan was predeceased by his son, Kevin Altmannsberger and two brothers, Robert and James Altmannsberger.Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meriden.
