SHARON-Eck, Agnes (Traffas) was born on November 17, 1924, in the family home south of Sharon, KS. She was the youngest of fifteen children born to Michael and Mary (Bolz) Traffas. Her father came over from Poland when he was seven years old and he passed away when Agnes was seven years old. Her mother's family came over from Holland. Agnes attended the four-room St. Boniface School and graduated as Valedictorian from Sharon High School. She was a member of St. Boniface Parish and the Altar Society. After graduating on August 17, 1943, she married Edmund Eck, spending many months as a war widow while her new husband served in the army (WW2). They made their home on a dairy farm in Harper County, not far from Sharon, for 50 years and raised four children. In addition to being a fantastic chef and homemaker, Agnes worked as the Cashier at the Sharon Valley State Bank for 25 years and then retired at age 62 to her next career as the accountant and tax preparer for her son's company in Attica, finally retiring at age 83. On July 19, 2016, Agnes passed away at Premier Living Home in Wichita, KS. She was the last of the fifteen siblings to enter eternal life. Preceding her in death was her husband, Edmund; her parents; her eight brothers, George, Bill, Joe, Sylvester, Mike, Francis, Vincent, and Rev Lawrence Traffas, C.S.S.R.; and her six best friends (her sisters), Mary Depenbusch, Sister Silveria (Elizabeth) Traffas, O.S.F., Loretta Spencer, Sister Vincetta (Clara) Traffas, O.S. F., Bertha Mans, and Anne Bohrer. Agnes will be missed dearly by her two daughters, Mary Lou Wilson and her husband, Joe of Mulvane, and Elene Hubka and her husband, Mike of Overland Park; her two sons, John and his wife, Kathy of Attica, and Mike and his wife, Rita of Wichita. She also will be missed by her 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends may register from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, July 22, at the funeral home. Rosary Service will be at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 24; Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 25, both at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
