Aaron Patrick MOORE Obituary
Dec 12, 1992 - Dec 12, 2016
This obituary is administered by:
MOORE, Aaron PatrickAaron Patrick Moore died tragically of an accidental gunshot wound on Monday December 12, 2016. He was celebrating his 24th birthday at the time of his death. Aaron had much to celebrate! He was one semester away from graduating from Texas State University, he had recently gotten his first apartment and his first dog, and he was moving towards partnership with his father in the family business. Aaron had recently written a strategic plan to expand the business, leaving his father mightily impressed. Aaron loved sports and the great outdoors. He was a fierce competitor and hated to lose. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He also loved his country and often expressed a desire to serve in the armed forces as a Navy Seal or a Special Forces soldier. Aaron would have been a great soldier or firefighter and his uncle Keith tried to recruit him to a firefighting career often. It was only recently that Aaron made the choice to join his father in business. Aaron also loved working out! When asked about the bulk he had gained and how muscular he was he replied (in the deepest voice imaginable), "I just work out". Aaron was protective of his younger sister and brother, not because they needed protection but because that was who Aaron was. They looked up to and admired their big brother and they will miss him greatly. Aaron admired and appreciated his sister's and brother's talents, maturity, compassion, and intelligence. Aaron loved his Pawpaw and thought him to be not only the smartest man he ever met but also the wisest. Aaron loved the time he spent at holidays and birthdays with his Pawpaw and Nana and large extended family. Aaron was his father's best friend and while they spent much time outdoors hunting and fishing they spent many quality hours just talking. He was a big guy at 6'3" and about 250 lbs. He was the guy you wanted to carry the big load and he was always happy to do so. While Aaron towered over his mother, he leaned on her when he needed help making sense of the world. They would often go to breakfast or lunch, or go to a movie or walk the dogs around the lake and talk about life. Aaron was deeply loved by his friends who remember him as a kind, generous, selfless soul who could keep them laughing until they were breathless. He was funny and relaxed and a really terrible tuba player. While they won't be going on any more adventures, they have their memories to hold and cherish. Aaron was born on December 12, 1992 in Minneapolis, MN but he got home to Texas as soon as he could. He went to Austin Waldorf School from kindergarten through tenth grade. He finished high school at St. Stephen's Episcopal School where he played football and baseball. He attended the University of Portland where he played baseball for two years before transferring to St. Edwards University. Aaron was six credit hours away from graduating from Texas State University with a degree in Business Administration at the time of death. He didn't take the typical path but was determined to finish his degree even while working full time. Aaron is predeceased by his grandfathers, Theodore D. Gittinger and Thomas Carlyle Moore. He is survived by his parents, Mary and Kevin Moore, his sister Alyza Catherine Moore, his brother Noah Thomas Moore, his grandmothers Barbara L. Gittinger and Helen I. Moore and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Thanks to everyone for your condolences and expressions of love. Funeral mass will be celebrated Monday December 19 at 10:00am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Aaron had a soft spot in his heart for animals and had just adopted a shelter dog. He made a comment to his mother that he wished he could bring all the dogs home with him. For those wishing to send flowers please consider making a donation to Austin Pets Alive or another animal shelter instead. "We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love." Martin Luther King
