A Job Well Done

Yolanda Kay Hollins was born in Las Vegas, Nevada to Barbara Jean Adams and Thomas Vaughn on April 3,1956. Yolanda attended and graduated from Clark High School in 1973. After working several jobs, Yolanda found her niche within the Hospitality industry beginning as a chambermaid and eventually serving as a Cocktail watiress for over 14 years for hotels such as, The Sands Hotel & Casino, The California Club, The Tropicana Hotel, and many more. In 2011, Yolanda made her transition into the medical field after graduating from Anthem Institute as a fully certified Medical Assistant and later becoming a certified Phlebotomist, Lab Technician and Lab Operator in 2012 - after graduating from Medical Skills For Life Institute. Yolanda concluded her education after becoming a certified Eligibility Pharmacy Specialist for Humana - making Humana her last place of employment. She accomplished these great things all while working full time as a Photo Technician for Ritz Camera Shop and raising her daughter Vonta by herself.

Yolanda enjoyed being actively involved in the schooling and educating of her child and voluteered so often that school campuses, administrators, and committee board members for the school district and extracurricular programs recognized and often referred to her as 'Vonta's Mom'- gaining her clearance to all events, benefits, and perks from several different organizations giving her voice room to intervene for the benefit of her child and other children - whom she treated as her own. She had many talents such as crocheting - in which she loved making complete outfits, scarves, hats and blankets for all her family, friends, and neighbors. She was also known as an excellent cook and was most famous for her tamales and eggrolls which she would often sell out of by the dozen very quickly.

In 2017, she was diagnosed with cancer and bravely fought and won that battle, which afforded her more time to spend with the ones she loved and to give back to others. Yolanda capitalized on this time by sharing her love of the Holidays (especially Christmas) with others. In 2018, she provided over 75 families with full course dinners for Thanksgiving - something that brought much joy to her heart.

Yolanda Kay Hollins was a true guardian and loved extrememly hard. Of all the titles she held, she loved being 'Vontas Mom' most. She was the life of every party, genuine, a true fashionista, and a warrior. On Monday, Februarry 22, 2021 - after a tremendous act of bravery, courage, and dedication - Yolanda took her rest and peacefully passed away with her daughter and family by her bedside as she transitioned. Yolanda Kay Hollins is survived by her daughter, Vonta Moffett-Ware, 2 grandchildren, Hannah and Mai'kuh Ware, her brother Lionel Hollins, her Niece Jacqueline Hollins - Butts, her Nephews, Lamont, Anthony, and Austin Hollins, and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and honorary children.

She has entered her rest. Job well done.
