William Maurice Doakes, 83, of Oklahoma City Ok, passed on February 25, 2021. William aka Billy was born on July 01, 1936 to Freeman Doakes & Louise (Johnson) Doakes in Norman Oklahoma.

Billy was predeceased by his parents Freeman Doakes and Louise (Johnson) Doakes. Three sisters: Delores Hamilton, Freeatta Handy & Betty Greene. Two children: Timothy Allen Gatewood Sr. and Angela Gatewood.

Billy accepted Christ at an early age at the Union Baptist Church in Shawnee Oklahoma. He attended Dunbar Elementary then went on to Dunbar High School where he graduated.

Billy then went in the serve in the U.S. Navy where he served 4 years. After the service Billy went in to work at Tinker Air Force Base for a few years then decided to serve in the National Guard for 6 years.

Billy leaves behind to cherish his memory: Audrey Harris (Niece) of the home. Two sisters: Joneva Harriston of Shawnee, Ok & Freda Guess of North Carolina. Four sons and daughter in law Melvin & Lania Gaines of Edmond, Ok, Fenton Sherman of Oklahoma City Ok, Tyris Haymond of Shawnee Ok & Phillip Gatewood of Colorado. Five grand children and a host of great grand children as well as nieces, nephews, friends & family.
