Warren Michael Spalding, 78, died Sunday, May 6, 2018, in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and friends.

He leaves his wife of 45 years, Mamie Spalding; his son, James Spalding and his sister, Theresa Jackson; his daughter, Sidney Jones; his brother, Jack Spalding; six grandchildren; and many close friends.

Born and raised in Louisville, the son of Michael and Susan Spalding, he was a lifelong resident of Louisville.

In his early years, after graduating from Jefferson County High School in 1958, he attended Clark University, graduating in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in Biology. He met his wife, Mamie (Hales) Spalding, at church and they were married in 1970 at Southeast Christian Church. In 1973, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard, where he was a Seaman, First Class.

Mr. Spalding had a passion for animals and was the head dog trainer for Always Faithful Dog Training Club. For years, he would enroll his award-winning German shepherds into dog shows, where he won numerous ribbons and awards.

Mr. Spalding loved to dance and would always grab his wife's hand to join him. His grandchildren would also accompany him on the dance floor, especially at parties. You've danced your way into heaven Warren!

A funeral service was held May 10, 2018, from Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home of Louisville, KY with a private burial.
