Rev.: Waltena Bobo, 80,of Bloomfield, beloved wife for 58 years of Harty Clyde

Bobo. passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at St. Francie

Hospital. Her day was ending as counless days before it had. She was preparing

a special meal of fried fish for her grandchildren and was getting ready for a quiet

Evening with family and in prayer with her Lord before bed. Waltena was botH it

Greemile, SC on August 19, 1948, daughter of the late Walter Bates and Cornelia

Drummond) Woody, she was raised in Greenville, SC and had lived in Hartford for

many years before moving to Bloomfield 24 years ago. After moving to Hartford

Waltena took a position with the State of Connecticut and retired after 20 years of

service. Feeling the Lord calling her to care for children in the community, Waltena

made the incredible sacrifice in retirement of becoming a foster mother. She cared

for and raised nine children over 20 years loving them as her own. She took them

on vacations to Disney World, Hawaii, on cruises in the Caribbean and to other

destinations throughout the country. She cared for them mentally, spiritually, and

physically, even when the odds were against her. Waltena joined the First Baptist

Church in Hartford, now The First Cathedral in Bloomfield as a young woman.

Over the years, she loved watching the church grow and taking part in the many

ministries within the life of the church. She was a member of the Senior Choir, the

Praises of Zion, she was ordained as a Missionary by Archbishop LeRoy Bailey, Jr.

and was later ordained as a Pastor of the Prayer Ministry at the Church. She was a

faithful Prayer Warrior every morning on the Church's Prayer Line and faithfully

taught Sunday School for many years. Rev. Waltena was a very good friend, defender

and supporter of Archbishop LeRoy Bailey, Jr., Mother Reathie Bailey, their family

and ministry. She started a street ministry which she ran for over 20 years called,

Jesus Said Ministries. Rev. Waltena and her prayer partners visited homes door-

to-door and preached Tuesday and Friday nights at Bible Studies at the YMCA

and YWCA in Hartford. She loved watching the fruits of her work grow in the

form of healings, relationships, and bringing others to Christ. Rev. Waltena helped

countless children, seniors, and those staying in homeless shelters throughout the

Greater Hartford area. Rev. Waltena not only talked the talk, she walked the walk

with her Savior every day and Loved her God and His People with all her heart.

This love for her family and others led her to spend years counseling couples facing

troubled marriages and divorce. Watching God heal these broken relationships

was especially meaningful to her. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking for her

family and others, and preaching. She loved traveling and took many memorable

trips throughout the United States and abroad. One of the highlights of her life

was visiting Washington DC during Christmas while President Barack Obama and

First Lady Michelle Obama and their family were in the White House. Besides

her husband, she leaves to mourn her passing a daughter, Auletta Rochelle Bobo
