TIMOTHY J. CRIMMINS Obituary

Feb 03, 1931 - Dec 03, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
CRIMMINS, TIMOTHY J. “JACK” Timothy J. “Jack” Crimmins, 85, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 3, 1931, son of the late Timothy Crimmins and Mamie Ryan Crimmins. He was predeceased by his sister Jean. He was raised in Fair Haven, and served his country admirably as a member of the U.S. Army, where he proudly served in Germany during the Korean War. Following an honorable discharge, he enrolled and graduated from the University of Connecticut, where he remained a proud alum until his final days, and was an avid fan of their basketball teams. His sister Jean, while a nursing student at the Hospital of St. Raphael, introduced him to fellow nursing student and Branford girl, Barbara Jones. They were soon married and were proud to celebrate 50 years together, until Barb’s untimely passing in 2011. They were blessed with 4 children, Betsey, of Arlington, MA, Tim, of Branford, Terrence of Natick, MA and Danny of Kihei, Maui, HI, two loving daughters in law Denise Curley and Jodi Lentz Crimmins, and 7 grandchildren: Lindsay, James, Aidan, Maggie, Ian, Ella, and Harper, who all just adored their “poppy”. He is also survived by his sister in law Elizabeth Sola of Ny, NY, as well as members of the Clapp, Rimler, Kubera, McWeeney, and Smith families, in addition to a wonderful circle of friends, who meant the world to him, especially in his later years. Upon graduating from UCONN, Jack secured employment at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Connecticut, where he worked for 30 years until his retirement in 1991. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, golfing, working outdoors, spending time with the grandkids, and traveling to the Caribbean, Hawaii on numerous occasions, and he especially enjoyed the family trip to Ireland in 2002. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Jack’s life on Friday December 9, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church in Branford. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. THERE WILL BE NO CALLING HOURS. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St. Branford is in care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Branford Counseling Center, 324 Harbor Street, Branford, CT 06405. Please see online memorial @ www.wsclancy.com.
