MOUNT PLEASANT - Mr. Stephen Stanley Kozlik, 81, passed away at WFH - All Saints on Thursday, September 5, 2013. A lifelong resident of Racine, Mr. Kozlik was born on November 21, 1931, the son of the late John and Mary Kozlik. Mr. Kozlik served his nation while stationed in Japan with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On September 17, 1955, he married Eleanor Pravda. After he was married he attended and graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Mr. Kozlik retired as an engineering technician from AC Delco after 30 years of employment. During his time there he helped design the guidance system for the space shuttle program. He was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and later, St. Lucy Catholic Church. Mr. Kozlik had many passions including; model airplanes, radio controlled cars, gardening, golf, and caring for his many feline companions. However, he was happiest when in the company of his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his loving wife, Eleanor, Mr. Kozlik is survived by his children, Eleanor Lambert, Susan (Joe) Gabrielian and Lisa (Kevin) Vertz all of the Racine area; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Cristina, Thomas Vertz, and Jacob Gabrielian; his great grandchildren; Annebelle Clasen, Ayden Vasey and Tessa Klein; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy Kozlik, Pauline (Robert) Schoeffler, Steven Pravda all of Racine and Judy (John) Holden of Arizona; as well as many dear nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lilly Ann Vertz; brothers, Robert, John, Joe, and Paul; and sisters, Mary, Stella and Josie. Family and friends are invited to meet at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 for a visitation from 4:00-5:30 p.m. A service celebrating and honoring his life will follow at 5:30 p.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Military honors will conclude the service. A private interment will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the Countryside Humane Society or St. Lucy Catholic Church.
