This obituary is administered by:
RACINE - Shirley Mae Mattie (nee: Bradley), 89, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at her home. Shirley was born on April 22, 1927 to the late Harold and Marie (nee: Dreacher) Bradley in Racine. On April 26, 1947 she was united in marriage to Eugene N. Mattie. Though they lived in Racine, she and her husband spent 22 winters in Florida. She was an avid bowler and had a passion for crocheting. Shirley enjoyed swimming and, with the help of Eugene, taught children how to swim. Travelling the United States, camping, boating, square dancing, and the Milwaukee Brewers all had a special part in her life. Most of all, Shirley loved her family. She was a giving person, especially to her grandchildren. She is everybody’s favorite. Shirley was a wonderful lady, and the three children she and Eugene brought into their lives are a testament of her incredible love. Shirley will be dearly missed by Eugene “Curly” Mattie, with whom she spent 69 beautiful years of marriage; her children, Sandra (Roger) Therkelsen, John (Susan) Mattie, and Don (Gail) Mattie; 9 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Bradley; and her brother and sister-in-law, Warren (Rita) Bradley. A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 3:00 PM. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. A committal service will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park chapel on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Memorials in honor of Shirley may be made to Heartland Hospice of Kenosha. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.wilsonfuneralhomeracine.com. The Mattie family expresses a sincere thank you to the staff at Heartland Hospice of Kenosha, especially Steve and Kaeligh. Wilson Funeral Home 1212 Lathrop Avenue 262-634-3361
