A beautiful tragedy

Sabrina Marie VanDyke, 27, of Kaysville, Utah (formerly of Peoria, IL) died from abuse, depression and suicide on May 26, 2021. Sabrina was born on April 2nd, 1994 to Chasity Collier and Robert VanDyke.

Sabrina spent her life defying expectations and overcoming diversirties. She loved animals, sports, outdoors, adventure photography, Friends, traveling, and cuddling with animals. Sabrina was a people pleasure through and through. It is impossible to sum up a woman so caring, genuine, vivacious, hilarious, and sparkly as she was. Those qualities emitted and emulated on to everyone around her. Unfortunately, a battle with depression made her innate glow invisible to her and she could not see how desperately loved and valued she was. Sabrina found her true passion to be people, she was always willing to give the shirt off her back if thats all that she had. She had a major soft spot for animals and would often volunteer her time at the local shelters. She graduated high school and enlisted in the Army National Guard. As for college she could never grasp what she wanted to be when she grew up other than a mother and a good person. It is the ultimate understatement to say that she saw the potential and value of every single person and she loved them with a ferocity that would make a rabid mother bear quiver. If only she had that love for herself.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Safe Harbor Crisis Center. Please help us break the destructive silence and stigma surrounding domestic violence, mental illness and suicide. The family would also appreciate if friends and colleagues would share memories and photos of Sabrina with them-this would provide us comfort as we find our way without her.
