This obituary is administered by:
Ruth Lillian (Bloom Kristoffersson) Poole passed away Dec. 1, 2016, at the age of 96. At her request, no funeral services are scheduled. Ruth was born on Feb. 15, 1920, in Spooner, Minnesota; the third daughter of four children born to Andrew & Caroline (Olson) Bloom. The family, Swedish Emigrant Homesteaders, came to the United States in 1910, via Ellis Island, where the family name was changed from Kristoffersson to Bloom. The Blooms sold their Minnesota holdings in June 1929 and moved to Klamath Falls, OR. Ruth attended Riverside Elementary and Klamath Union High School. On March 30, 1935, Ruth married Richard L. "Dick" Poole. This union was blessed with five sons, two of whom died in infancy. Ruth was a very talented cook. She was employed as Swedish Cuisine Chef at the "Little Sweden Restaurant" in Klamath Falls. She, with her husband Dick, leased and operated the Harriman Restaurant for several years. Ruth was also head cook at the then new Oregon Tech Student Cafeteria, and earned the personal praise of OIT President and Founder, Winston Purvine. Ruth enjoyed salmon and bottom fishing at Brookings, OR, where she and Dick maintained a summer home. Deer and elk hunting trips locally and in NE Oregon where much anticipated. She was the Poole/Wallin deer and elk camp cook for more that 50 years. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick, two infant sons, and three sisters: Anna, Inga, and Hildur. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Ronald Poole of Klamath Falls, Richard & Sharon Poole of Klamath Falls, James & Carolyn Poole of White City, OR; grandchildren and their spouses Mark Poole of Guerneville, CA, Saundra Caldwell of Portland, OR, Michael Poole (Lori) of Klamath Falls, Cindy Balin (Scott) of Klamath Falls, Karen Spencer of Baker City, OR, Kelley Cox of Southington, CT, Kari Guyer of Medford, OR; 13 great grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews; and several cousins residing in Sweden. Ruth's family would like to thank the caregivers at Rogue River Place and Sky Lakes Medical Center, especially Nurse Joey and Dr. Moisa. "They treated Mom with loving care and respect." Skoal!
