Robert “Bob” Peppers passed away unexpectedly on July 8, 2020 in his home in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Bob was born to Ottis and Mamie Peppers November 30, 1942 in Colp Illinois. After high school, Bob joined the United States Army where he married the love of his life Patricia. He was a helicopter pilot for 22 years with her by his side. During his service he served 2 tours in Vietnam where he was awarded the Medal of Honor and 3 Purple Hearts. He retired in 1990.
Bob is survived by his son Wendell (Valerie) Peppers of Johnston City Illinois, brother Troy (Lois) of Carterville, Illinois, sister Mildred Porter Indianapolis, Indiana, 3 grandchildren; Jessica (David) Velasquez of Eglin AFB Florida, Austin (Amanda) Peppers of Johnston City Illinois, and Paige Bandera of Youngstown ,Ohio, and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Ottis and Mamie, wife Patricia, and daughter Michelle
Visitation will be held at Blue Funeral Home in Marion, Illinois July 13, 2020 from 4-6 pm. Graveside services will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association as per the request of Bob before his untimely passing.
