Loved by So Many, Adored by All

Las Vegas, NV – It is with profound sadness that the family of Renee PERNELL [CHAVERST], announce her passing. Renee departed this life on May 20, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada, due to complications of Pneumonia.  She was born, one of eight siblings, in Woodster, Alabama, on July 30, 1948, as the daughter of Chester & Lizzy Mae CHAVERST.

Renee is survived by her mother Lizzy Mae, her younger sister Nadine, her two children Ronelle and Emzy, and three grandchildren: Wynter Rhayne Renee, Michaela Renee, and Troy.

At 18 years of age, Renee moved to Los Angeles, California, to live with her older sister. There she met her first husband, a U.S. Navy veteran, Emzy ROBINSON II (1971-1982).  Renee began her professional career as an administrative clerk at Max Factor Cosmetics Company of Los Angeles, and later joined McDonell Douglas Hughes Helicopters as a Budget Analyst

In 1984, she married her high school sweetheart, Andrew PERNELL (1984-2003), and two years later, they moved to Mesa, Arizona.  Renee retired from McDonnell Douglas Helicopters in 1989 and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. There she opened an in-home daycare center.

“Hi Ms. Renee,” “Hi Miss Nae Nae”, - the children would say, wearing smiles the size of Kansas as they came running into her arms each day. Renee was always the life of the party, and she touched the hearts of the parents and kids that came to her daycare center. Renee loved children and poured herself into taking care of her young charges daily. She provided many of them with their formative education. Over the years, she remained close friends with the families whose children attended her in-home daycare center.

In 1994, Renee became a foster parent to “Sir” Clinton JONES(CJ), a disabled foster child with cerebral palsy. She loved CJ deeply and later adopted him as her own child.

In 2016, Renee moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, to be closer to her mom and siblings. Renee was loved by so many and adored by all. She was a wonderful mother, sister, daughter, Nannie, grandmother, and friend. She will be sorely missed.

“Mom, you loved all of God’s children, of all races and ethnicities, and you were truly blessed to find your passion in life!  Mom, my love for you will never rest.” -Your Son Emzy III

“We love you, Nannie. Rest in heaven.” - Wynter Rhayne
