Paulette King Martin, 73, of Houston, TX peacefully transitioned at 7:32 p.m. on July 27, 2021 at the Medical Resort Nursing Home - Willowbrook in Houston, Texas after a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer’s.
Paulette was born in Carpenter, Mississippi on September 3, 1947 to the late Clarence Lee and Viola Womack King. She graduated from Hinds Agricultural High School in the Class of 1965. A month later in June 1965, she married Wesley Richard Martin of Utica, Mississippi and they have one child, Cedric Tyrone Martin.
Paulette held various jobs during her 40-plus years in the workforce. While living in Utica, Mississippi, Paulette was a Teacher's Assistant, Administrative Assistant, and local Income Tax Preparer. She moved to Beebe, Arkansas and became a Seamstress at a local clothing manufacturer. She then relocated to Bellwood, Illinois and landed the position of Library Technical Services Assistant. Later, she moved to Pontiac, Michigan to become a Security Specialist.
In 2008, Paulette moved to Houston, Texas to be closer to her son; her daughter-in-law, Twinie Parson Martin; and her two grandchildren, Cedric Martin II and Tierra Martin. Soon after her move to Houston, she retired as a Security Specialist which allowed her to spend quality time with her son. She also spent many hours cooking and shopping with her daughter-in-law and she became very active in her grandchildren's lives. Her proudest moments were attending and watching her grandchildren perform in sports competitions and band events.
Paulette was passionate about reading mystery novels, solving crossword puzzles, and listening to music, in particularly Reggae and Jazz. She always maintained a very quiet demeanor but had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed all that life had to offer.
