Paul Richard Arevalo Obituary

Jun 22, 1934 - Jun 29, 2009

This obituary is administered by:

On June 29th, 2009 our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at his home after a year long battle with cancer.

Dad was born in El Paso, TX and was the second of 12 children born to Demetrio and Antonia Arevalo. At the age of seven, the family took up residence in El Rio, CA. Dad graduated from Oxnard High School where he lettered in track and participated in band. He proudly served his country in the USMC and retired from civil service with over 35 years served at USN Pt. Mugu. Dad was preceded in death by his parents, sister Gracie and grandchildren, Aaron and Michael.

A wonderful father to seven children: Christopher (Deborah), Lawrence (Ibis), Patrick (Connie), Steven (Regina), Monica (Chris), Elizabeth (Rich) and Frank. Dad also had nineteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren that he was very proud of. He had a love for music and a passion for education which he passed down to his family. Dad loved all things mechanical and enjoyed tinkering on anything. In addition, he was a community activist who worked on the JFK and RFK political campaigns and participated in the Caesar Chavez movement. He was a founder, coach and board member of the Port Henenme Pony Baseball League in the 1960's and could be found in the stands of multiple sporting events throughout the County. He loved to travel the roadways of Mexico and the Western United States. He volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity and the "ReStore" and could not pass up some of the treasures he found there.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Erik Leibovitch, Dr. Evan Slater and the staff at the VCMC Oncology Clinic, Nurse Julie Nishida and Michelle Clisby of Livingston Memorial Hospice Program and the Pacific Therapy Group for their love and caring support. Dad was a regular at Hometown Buffet restaurant and enjoyed the staff there. Grandpa we will miss you.

"Give me a hug bug, give me a smooch pooch, love ya!"
