Norton Dumbaugh

Norton Dumbaugh, age 79, of Fredericktown passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Knox Community Hospital.

He was born on July 10, 1935 in Knox County to the late Clarence and Grace (Robinson) Dumbaugh. Norton was the former owner of Dumbaugh Dry Cleaning and Dumbaugh Produce in Fredericktown. He retired from General Motors, Fisher Body Plant in Ontario after 30 years of service. Norton was a member of the Fredericktown United Methodist Church, the Fredericktown Lions Club where he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, the Knox County Coon Hunters Club and was a longtime Volunteer at the Fredericktown Fire Department. Norton was a Veteran serving in the United States Air Force.

Norton was an avid Cleveland Indian, Cavs, and Browns fan. He supported Fredericktown sports and in 2014 was awarded the Fredericktown Freddie Fan of the Year Award. He was known as a kind, generous, and hardworking man. He was an avid hunter and was affectionately known as "The King of Sweet Corn" by many.

He is survived by his children, Mark Dumbaugh of Fredericktown, Michele Carr of Dayton, Melanie (Matthew) Earnest of Fredericktown, Michael Dumbaugh of Fredericktown; four grandchildren, Dillon Carr, Chase Dumbaugh, Macy Earnest, Mariah Earnest; his brother David (Patricia) Dumbaugh of Fredericktown; and nephews John (Amy) Dumbaugh and Joe (Tess) Dumbaugh.

Besides his parents, Norton was preceded in death by his wife Eileen Dumbaugh and his grandson Jason Gum.

Friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. at the Fredericktown United Methodist Church with the service to follow beginning at 1 p.m. with Rev. Keith Bohley officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
