Celebration of Life
Date of Birth August 25, 1945
Date of Passing June 16, 2020
Noreen Evans Thomas
from Hemet, California, United States
In Loving Memory
Noreen Thomas passed away peacefully June 16, 2020 after an eight year battle with stage four cancer. She beat the odds and if you knew her, she did it her way and believed in God.
She was born August 25, 1945 in Dallas to Willie and Pearlie Evans. After graduating high school she lived with her favorite sister Odessa, who she loved dearly, the two were inseparable. As time went by she met James Thomas from New Orleans. The two married and settled down in Cedar Hill, TX where they bought their first home. Noreen was a stay at home mother for most of her life raising their three children in Texas and after deciding to move to California she had her baby boy Bryan. Later in life she entered the workforce as a devoted school bus driver.
She loved talking to people and met friends everywhere she went. She had the most wonderful smile and a sassy attitude. You could always count on her to give it to you, as she would say "I shoot straight from the hip!” After her husband passed in 2013, Noreen made the best of life with her children and her family.
While enjoying and loving life, she met Maurice Ollie. The two married at a charming winery and embraced their retirement. She was surrounded by love and family in her final days.
She is survived by her children Paula, Demetra, Guyland, and Bryan, her husband Maurice, her siblings Odessa, Patricia, and Ricky, her grandchildren Traievon, Gynifer, and Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews.
Noreen loved the Lord and the Lord loved her. A loving spirit like hers is one of a kind and she will truly be missed.
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I've found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My Life's been full, I savoured much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch,
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
