Celebration of Life For Nathaniel Poole

Sunrise:  April 17, 1934                                                                                                              Sunset:  October 7, 2018

Nathaniel Poole Jr. was born on April 17, 1934 to the parents of Nathaniel and Hattie Mae Poole.  Nathaniel and his parents lived in Birmingham, Alabama.  At the age of seventeen years old, Nate left Birmingham, Alabama to join the United States Army. He earned a Silver Campaign Star; United Nations Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal; and three Overseas Service Bars.  After leaving the military, Nate and his mother moved to Detroit, MI and resided on 17876 Lumpkin Street.  Nate then found employment at the Chrysler Truck Plant in Warren, Michigan.  He worked there for thirty years and retired.

While residing on Lumpkin, Nate met Reginald and Willie Mae Bassett and developed a loving relationship.  He soon became their Godfather.  From then on, he was known as God-father, Nate.  After the birth of O'Neshia and Reginald Bassett II, Nate also became their endearing and loving Godfather.  Throughout this relationship, Nate became a wonderful friend and helped the Bassett family through some of their hardships.  Nathaniel had a loving heart and was a loving God-father.

Nate had a deep passion for music especially jazz.  He purchased musical instruments (saxophone, trumpet, and electric keyboards).  Nate was not a skilled musician, yet he put forth his best effort.  Also, he was an eccentric individual who believed in doing things his own way.

Nate was a devout Christian.  He believed in giving a helping hand to those in need.  As Nate aged, his health declined.  He then moved in with Reginald and Willie Mae Bassett.  They took great care of Nate until God called him home on October 7, 2018.

Nate leaves to cherish his memory, Reginal Bassett, Willie Mae Bassett, O'Neshia Bassett, Reginald Bassett II, Breanna Bassett, Damon Beverly, Darius Beverly, Heiress Beverly, Danielle Beverly, Elijah Bassett, and friend Wayne Wilson Who always made Nate laugh.                                                                                                                                                                             We cannot know the meaning We cannot see it all, Just why the road must wind Or why the tears must fall. But face to face one day with God In Heaven's glorious land, The darkest glass will be removed And then we'll understand.
