This obituary is administered by:
Michael Eric Page57, died in his Indianapolis home surrounded by his family on February 11, 2017. Mike was diagnosed with a brain tumor in January 2016. He was born on Feb. 4, 1960 in New Castle to the late John S. Page and Mary Dean Page (Burchett). He graduated from New Castle Chrysler High School in 1978. Mike attended Butler University, graduating cum laude in 1982 with a major in Political Science and earned a master's degree from Thunderbird School of International Management in 1986. However, Mike never stopped learning and, after his diagnosis, began studying Spanish and adopted the mantra, "cada día es un regalo (every day is a gift)." Mike began his professional career in the surety industry with Aetna Surety Company and most recently worked for CNA.Mike's years of hard work enabled him to support the greatest joy of his life: his family. Mike was immensely proud of his three children who he supported in all activities and pursuits. He was married to the love of his life and college sweetheart, Leslie Page, who accompanied him on travel adventures, to outdoor concerts and movies and through 33 years of partnership. Mike's latest joy was his grandson, Samuel, who brought so much light to his last year of life. Mike also understood the importance of friendship and cultivated life-long relationships from his time in Newcastle and Indianapolis. He loved to reminisce about days in the Delt House, share beers at Polka Boy concerts and eat brunch at Moe and Johnny's.Mike's other great love was sports. He was a loyal White Sox and Butler Basketball fan. Family friends helped himto attend Butler games late into his illness, and Mike fulfilled a lifelong dream when he participated in the White Sox Fantasy Baseball camp in January 2016. Mike also helped others to enjoy sports through coaching the rec league at First Baptist Church, where he gave all kids a shot.Mike demonstrated immense love, strength and grace during his illness and will be remembered by his friends and family as the most honorable, kindest and loving of people. Mike is survived by his wife, Leslie Page; children, Laura Goodwin, Sarah Page and Patrick Page; son-in-law, Thomas Goodwin; grandson, Samuel Goodwin; brothers Anthony Page and Douglas (Millie) Page and beloved dog, Henry.A memorial service will be held at the All Souls Unitarian Church - Indianapolis on Saturday, Feb. 18th at 2:00 p.m. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made in Mike's name to the American Brain Tumor Association: http://hope.abta.org/goto/MichaelPage.
