Max passed away on October 12,

2019 at her home in Mobile, Al.

She was born on April 7, 1933 in Mobile, Alabama to the late Charles and Lillie

Pearl Mitchell. Maxine was the third child of nine.

Married Walter Sandlin at the age of 19. In that union, they raised 4

children; James, Melissa, Terry and Shajauna.

Maxine attended the Twinsburg schools from which she graduated from R.B.

Chamberlin in 1951. She later went on to attend Tri-C college where she studied

Business Management with the ambitions of opening a soul food restaurant.

5tauttce accepted Christ at an early age at Second Pilgrim Missionary Baptist

Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Jesse Rogerssr. While attending

Second Pilgrim, Florence sang in the choir, was a member of the usher board and

nurse's guild.

flounce had many passions inlife,

She loved to fish. She found peace on the banks casting her lines.

She was a beautician, She perfected the Jheri curl.

She a mechanic. The best female backyard mechanic around.

She was a mentor. Flo encouraged her nieces, nephews and neighborhood

children to play sports and lead positive lives. Flo was known for her love of

cooking, her singing talent, her beauty and for being the life ofthe party, But most

of all Flo was known for her feisty, stern, "tell it like it is" attitude. She did not

have a problem saying what was on her mind.

At the age of 13 Flo started her first job at the Beehive restaurant. She also

worked for Oak Park nursing home, Chrysler, American Commodore Tuxedo.

 

 

Preceding Flo in death, her parents Charlie and Lillie Pearl Sandlin, husband;

Walter Sandlin, son; Terry Sandlin, brothers; Leroy and Calvin Mitchell and

Jermaine King, sisters; Ida Mae Mitchell and Edna Jennings.

She leaves to cherish her memories, 3 children; James, Melissa

and Patricia, brother; Clarence (Decarol) Mitchell of Georgia, sisters; Estella Darden

and Pamela Evans both of Twinsburg, Ohio. Grandchildren; Sayble Bradley, Bradley, Cedric Odom, Dupree Key, Me'Asha Stokes-Mitchell, Chole Odom, Savion Odom, Colby Odom, Shiriece Williams, Shanieee Williams, Shakirra Lawshea, James Sandlin and Ashley Tyler, And 7 great grandchildren, 3 Aunts 3 sisters in law, 1 brother in law, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
