Maurice was the fifth child born on September 27,1946 to the late Jessie Maddox ans Luellar Dobins Maddox of Brent Alabama. He attende Mt.Tabor and Faucett Junior High School in Brent Alabama. He was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church and joined under Rev. E.J James at an early age.

He moved to Chicago IL where he spent his remaining years, He had a self owed contractor business for fifty years.

He leaves to cherish his life: Loving sons Eddie and Maurice Jones JR, Leroy Davis daughter Rouse and Eric moore; stepdaughter Dacia. Five grandchildren Quintin,Antonio,Maurice III and Tyrese Jones. Granddaughter DanZay Nelson. He also leaves two sisters , Fannie M. Groffin and Ola Maddox of Brent Alabama; One brother Lee Thomas (Betty) Maddox of Alabama and a host of nieces ,nephwes, cousins and other family members and friends.

His daughter Natalie, wife Sharon parents Jessie and Luellas, two sisters Marry Ella Brand and Jessica Maddox Harrington, one brother Joe N. Maddox and brother-in-law Fermon Griffin all preceded him in Death.
