It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Mary Klingensmith, beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and dedicated preschool teacher, on February 4, 2025, at the age of 31. Born on May 20, 1993, Mary was a bright light in the lives of everyone who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and passion for nurturing young minds made her an unforgettable presence in her community.
Mary was a proud graduate of Slippery Rock University, where she earned her degree in Early Childhood Education. She dedicated her life to teaching, and for the past several years, she taught at Blackhawk School District, where she impacted countless children, parents, and fellow educators. Her commitment to fostering a love of learning in her students and her unwavering dedication to their growth and well-being was a testament to the depth of her caring nature.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Joshua Klingensmith, who was the love of her life and her steadfast partner. Mary was also deeply cherished by her sister-in-law and closest friend, Katie Klingensmith, who shared an incredibly special bond with her. Her family was everything to her—Mary’s parents, Kathy and Steve Heinburg, were a constant source of love and support, and she treasured her relationships with her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mary’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of all who knew her. Her family and friends will remember her not only for her devotion to her students and her family but also for her infectious smile, her quick wit, and her ability to make everyone feel valued and loved.
A private viewing service to honor Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, February 8th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Campbell's Funeral Home. The private funeral mass will take place on Sunday, February 9th, at 1:00 PM at Chippewa United Methodist Church. A luncheon will be provided following the service downstairs in the church, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, to allow family and friends to gather and share memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a scholarship fund in Mary’s name to support young educators, a cause that Mary held dear.
Mary’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, her students, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the light she brought into this world.
Rest in peace, Mary. You will never be forgotten.
