A memorial service will be held on Thursday, 11 a.m., Dec. 15, 2016, in the Hodges Chapel at First Christian Church in Lubbock with Rev. Paul Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Marge was born on Aug. 25, 1929, to Hubert and Bernice (Blankenship) Allen in Lubbock. She graduated from Lubbock High School, where she was a member of the Acappella Choir. She attended Texas Tech for three years, majoring in art. While attending Tech, she was active in the Ko Shari Social Club and the Gargoyle Society, Department of Architecture. She married fellow classmate and artist Ray D. Collier in 1949 in Lubbock. He preceded her in death in 2009, after almost 60 years of marriage. Marge worked for Hemphill-Wells department store in the late 1960's and 1970's in Monterey Center and South Plains Mall. In 1985, she and Ray fulfilled their dream to help design and build a custom home in the Frank Lloyd Wright tradition in Ransom Canyon, Texas which they enjoyed for over 20 years. Marge shared her husband's love of art, and was a great supporter of Ray's art pursuits. In addition to her love of art, she enjoyed Big Band music and many sports, including tennis and bowling. She was a long time member of First Christian Church, Lubbock. Marge is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Dorothy Serrurier; and brother, Hubert Allen, Jr. Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Jan Collier of Lubbock; niece, Kay Serrurier of Amarillo, and nephews, Rob Allen of Las Cruces, NM, Tom Allen of Ft. Worth, Don Serrurier of Pearland, and Rick Serrurier of Amarillo. Many thanks go to the staff of Hospice of Lubbock, and the caregivers of Promiseland III Assisted Living, who looked after Marge in recent months. Memorials in her honor may be made to Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 21st St, Lubbock, TX 79410, or First Christian Church, 2323 Broadway St. Lubbock, TX 79401.
