Harmeling, Marilyn L.Marilyn L. Harmeling, age 89, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully Friday, August 18, 2017. She was born on September 14, 1927 to the late Herman and Ella Steffen. Marilyn, a life-long Sheboygan resident, graduated from Central High School. After high school, she worked at the Wisconsin Gas Company where she made many lasting friendships. She met her future husband, William J. Harmeling in Sheboygan after he came back from military service. After raising her family, she returned to work at Lake to Lake Dairy where she worked until retirement. Marilyn enjoyed traveling with family and friends and was involved in numerous social clubs, including being a member of Sheboygan Yacht Club. She had a passion for entertaining and hosting her family and friends. She was an ovarian cancer survivor for over 30 years. Marilyn was currently a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.Marilyn is survived by her two children: Cynthia L. (Richard) Indyke of Chicago, Craig W. (Maureen) Harmeling of Green Bay; 3 grandchildren: Christin Bonebrake, Kathleen (Adam) Servi, and Jessica Harmeling; 7 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Ryan, Payton, Quinn, Ella, Sophia, and Gracie; many in-law's and nieces and nephews throughout the country.Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, one brother, David Steffen, and one sister, Mildred Baumann.Family and friends are invited to visit at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral and Cremation Care Center, 1201 N. 8th Street, Sheboygan, on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Memorial Service will follow at 3 p.m. with a reception to follow. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the or Gilda's Club Chicago.A special thanks to those friends and family who visited with Marilyn at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home this past year.Please visit www.ballhornchapels.com to sign the guestbook.
