Louise Sandoz MorseVentura, CALouise Sandoz Morse, 90, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on January 18, 2017, after a brief illness.She was born on June 7, 1926 in Long Beach, CA to parents, Louis and Sigrid Sandoz. One month later, her family moved to Ventura where her father opened Sandoz Jewelers on California Street. Louise graduated from Ventura High School and studied at UC Santa Barbara, where she received a bachelor's degree in elementary education with a double minor in music and science. Louise taught in the Ventura Unified School District for many years.At age 18, while on her way to a church service in downtown Ventura, Louise met the love of her life, John C. Morse, Jr. John, a sailor joined Louise at church that same evening, where it became the start of a lifelong love. Through out his deployment overseas, during WW II, John and Louise kept in contact with many letters. When John returned, they were married on June 20, 1947, settled in Ventura and were blessed with twin sons and a daughter. Louise remained a resident in the Ventura area for the remainder of her life.Louise was dedicated not only to her own children, but to many others. She taught Sunday school, piano lessons, and volunteered as a music teacher in her grandchildren's classrooms in Moorpark. She will always be remembered as "Mimi" and "Grammie" to many kids. Together, John and Louise served Christ by serving others. They were involved in their church and community groups including 4-H, Campus Life/Youth for Christ and Azusa Pacific University. Louise was a member of P.E.O and served as a Deaconess and organist in her church for many years. Louise loved spending time with family, playing the piano for her grand/great-grandchildren, reading, going to bible study, making Swedish pancakes, traveling, and having Saturday breakfast at the Vagabond.Louise was a kind, nurturing woman who had a huge heart and compassion for anyone she would meet. The godly wisdom she shared and love she gave will always be cherished.Louise is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John C. Morse, Jr.; parents Louis and Sigrid Sandoz; and brothers Delores "Dee", Mauritz, and Laurence Sandoz.She is survived by her children, John Morse (Neal Mandich), Paul Morse (Robert Neer) and Deanne Cowgill (Jeffrey); seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Stanley Frochtzwajg and Louise's loving caregivers.A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 28th at 2:00 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church, 1555 Poli Street, Ventura. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
