Celebrating Linda
Linda Gilley, 67, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away, surrounded by her family and loved ones on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Linda was born in Chicago, IL on November 27, 1953. She lived in the Chicago area for most of her life. She also resided in Minneapolis, MN; Indianapolis, IN; Sierra Vista, AZ; and St. Louis, MO. Throughout Linda's life, she worked at a variety of occupations. However, her most significant role was that of a caregiver, Mother, and homemaker. Upon the loss of her mother, when Linda was only 8 years old, she, being the eldest daughter, assumed the role of raising and caring for her 8 siblings. After giving birth to her first child at the age of 17, Linda embarked upon the role of Motherhood, raising seven children, 6 daughters and a son. Linda was adamant in making sure that her children received a proper education. She herself attended Mundelein College and Northwestern Illinois University and would often take her children with her while attending classes.
Although Linda endured many adversities in life, she always managed to maintain a smile and her sense of humor. Linda was unique. She was a straight shooter who could be brutal with her honesty and knowledgeable in her observations of people. She lived by her own rules and no one else's. Her children loved her more than anything and she will be forever missed.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Gilley and Charlie Mae Jones, and three siblings: Robert C. Jones; John R. Jones; and Herbert J. Gilley. She is survived by five siblings: Michael D. Gilley; Zenobia D. Gilley; Bernadine G. Stewart; Wade A. Gilley; and Charlie M. Gilley. Linda is also survived by her seven children: Kimberley Ann Gilley; Valencia Gilley; Margo Renee Roberts; Yvonne Foxy Gilley; Honey Nina Arnold and Russell Prince Arnold, along with 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Gone, but never forgotten...Peace out.
